Sewing a Nightgown
A nightgown can come in many different styles, and it is often difficult to find the type that will suit your needs perfectly. This type of garment, especially if made with good quality, tends to be expensive. However, with some basic sewing skills and know-how, you will be able to make one with minimum cost. Here are some instructions on how to go about it.
Start by cutting two pieces from your chosen fabric that are each as wide as the widest part of your body. It should also be long enough to reach from your shoulders to your calves. Next, lay them on top of each other with the right sides up. Start sewing along the two longer sides, leaving a six-inch hole opening at the top of each side. These will serve as the holes for which your arms can go through.
Then, sew the top of the garment together, leaving a six-inch opening directly in the middle of the collar. Once this has been accomplished, hem the bottom of the nightgown. With the hemming done, you would need to cut a three-inch slit in the back middle of the collar.
